Accessibility
We want Mind Matters to work for everyone, including people who use assistive technology, keyboards, zoom or different color settings.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We test with automated tools (axe), keyboard-only use, zoom, and every display setting. Automated tools catch only some problems, so this is not a certification.
What you can adjust
Choose “Display” at the top of any page to change:
- Light or dark appearance, or match your device
- Colors: our default palette, high contrast, or low stimulation
- Text size up to 150%, and extra line and letter spacing
- Reduced motion
- Focus mode, which hides decorations and simplifies layouts while keeping navigation and help available
Your browser’s own zoom (up to 400%) and system settings for dark mode and reduced motion also work.
Features
- A “Skip to main content” link, consistent headings and landmarks
- Visible keyboard focus and large touch targets
- Forms with labels, hints and clear error messages
- A readable typeface (Atkinson Hyperlegible Next), designed by the Braille Institute for low-vision readers
- A topic carousel that never moves on its own, with buttons and keyboard support
- Downloadable templates in editable Word and spreadsheet formats as well as PDF
Known limitations
- Printable PDF templates are designed for handwriting. For screen readers, please use the Word or spreadsheet version.
- Some linked websites run by other organizations may not meet the same standards.
- Spanish content isn’t available yet. We will only add it once translations have been checked.
