Privacy
You can use this site without an account. We collect as little as possible, and we never ask about your health.
Draft policy. This text describes how the website actually works. It is still awaiting review by Mind Matters leadership and a qualified advisor, so it should not be read as a statement of legal compliance.
Browsing the site
- No visitor accounts, no advertising, no analytics services and no third-party trackers. All fonts, icons and scripts are served from this site.
- We never ask for your precise location. If you type a ZIP code into a search, it is used only to estimate distances for that search.
- Searches use the web address (for example ?zip=08085), so your own browser may remember them in its history. Our application does not record search words or ZIP codes in its logs.
Cookies and browser storage
- Contact form: when you open it, we set one strictly necessary security cookie that protects the form from forgery. It expires when you close your browser.
- Display settings (light/dark, colors, text size, spacing, motion, focus mode) are saved only in your browser’s local storage. They never reach our server. Use “Reset to defaults” to remove them.
- The in-browser check-in tool keeps what you type in the page’s memory. It is only saved on your device if you tick “Keep on this device”, which anyone using the same device could see. You can delete it at any time.
Server and hosting logs
Like every website, our servers see technical information such as IP addresses when pages are requested. Our application logs record only the page path, response status and timing: not search terms, ZIP codes, form contents or IP addresses. To limit abuse, sign-in and contact attempts are rate-limited using a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of the IP address that is kept for about an hour. Our hosting provider may keep its own infrastructure logs.
The contact form
- We ask for an email address (so we can reply), an optional name, a topic and your message. Please don’t include health details.
- Messages are encrypted in our database and can be read only by Mind Matters administrators.
- Messages are deleted automatically after 365 days, or sooner if you ask us.
- If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us for you.
Staff accounts
Only Mind Matters staff have accounts. We keep a record of staff actions (such as publishing a page) for accountability. It never includes passwords or message contents.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information. We use service providers to host the site and store files; they process data only to provide that service.
